Cabrita Reis
A Casa de Coimbra
Starting from an obsolete museographic structure that overlapped with the space of Refeitório de Santa Cruz, Cabrita Reis, as composer, carefully and surgically oversaw the new sculpture. In this assembly process the space was pasted, cut, isolated and reordered to compose the new space of the Casa/House.
Cutting the parts and reorganising them revealed and re-framed the structure of what was behind and was not visible, exposing layers of space from other times, where light highlights, reveals and clarifies this process of sedimentation which is not fixed, not stable.
The Casa/House that was built in this space of retreat and ceremony is summoned by the domesticity of its name and by the spatiality of its conformation.
