Gabriela Albergaria
The artistic work of Gabriela Albergaria deals with the movement of plant species in the world originating from European expansion, and, later, during the colonial period. The migration of plants, the historical nature of their inventorying and cataloguing, and the forming of gardens for study or for recreation are trademarks of social, political and aesthetic processes. It is from this reflection and study that the artist constructs her work, often dedicated to the question of territory and landscape. Her participation in the Anozero biennial is presented in the form of a workshop on the surroundings of Santa Clara-a-Nova Monastery, open to students of art and architecture, with the participation of architects and landscape architects. During this workshop, the determinations of the construction of space and the connection between the procedures of art and architecture are debated, resulting in a set of documents and memories of actions that will occupy one of the Monastery rooms.
